Amazing facts about African lions
1 – Lions are the only cats that live in groups called prides, prides
are family units include up to : 3 males, 12 females and their young.
2- Young male lions eventually leave their prides and establish their own prides by taking over another pride headed by another male.
3- Female lions stay in their prides as they age.
4- Only male lions have manes, the long hair that encircles their heads,
males defend the pride's territory and mark it with their urine.
5- Female lions are the pride's primary hunters.
They often work together to hunt.
6- The lions prey upon grassland's animals such as : zebras, wildebeest, and other
large animals, many of these animals are faster than lions so the lions often
work together to hunt them.
7- After the hunt, the lions normally start to squabbling over the
sharing of the kill, young lions do not help with hunt until they are about a
year old.
8- Lions will hunt alone if they have the opportunity, they also steal
kills from hyenas and wild dogs.
9- Lions roamed most of Africa and parts of Asia and Europe, today they
are only found in parts of Africa.
10- Very small population of Asian lions survives in India.
