glowing shark
creatures that dwell deeply under ocean's surface are notoriously alluring, and the lantern shark one of them
this small shark has fluorescent markings flank both sides of its body, they called lateral photophores
The markings glowing vibrantly and mysteriously in deep-waters, deep-sea researchers have been trying to understand why these markings exist.
These marking are not helpful for camouflage, also they don't warn predators to stay away.
According to new study: the flashy markings help facilitate intraspecific communication within the same species, because attracting a partner in deep, dark waters can't be easy.
Males and females glow from different parts of their bodies and scientists think that this helps them to locate a mate .
